2015 Stan Fox Stakes Final Field and Barrier Draw

September 23rd, 2015

Only six runners have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens; highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting three-year-olds.

Trainer Chris Waller has already experienced notable success with Press Statement this year, and is confident the colt is ready for a return to the winner’s circle on Saturday after being confirmed in the 2015 Stan Fox Stakes final field.

Press Statement won a pair of Sydney minor sprints upon debuting to racing in late autumn, and more than franked the form when travelling to Brisbane for success in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) on June 6th.

Returning this time for second in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1300m), the son of Hinchinbrook received a horror run in transit in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) a fortnight ago and only managed fifth.

Confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman for the first time competitively, Press Statement will be very hard to beat in the Stan Fox Stakes from barrier 2.

Rageese was unlucky to finish fourth in the Golden Rose a fortnight ago, and should relish the conditions of the 2015 Stan Fox Stakes, particularly in being partnered by Tommy Berry.

Stamping his claims as one to watch in placing second in both the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) in autumn, Rageese clearly needed the run when fourth in the Listed Rosebud (1200m) first-up this time, but returned to winning form in Wyong minor over 1350m on August 30th.

Trainer John O’Shea was hard pressed explaining why Shards was unable to make anything of an impact in the Golden Rose, but is confident a step-back in class for the Stan Fox Stakes will see a revitalised colt this weekend.

Finishing in the minors in his first two career starts, Shards broke through for a maiden race win in the TAB.com.au Handicap (1350m) on June 13th before making a successful transition to black type company in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) on August 22nd.

The Gerald Ryan-trained Fireworks will have to overcome the outside gate in the 2015 Stan Fox Stakes, while Winning Accord (barrier 3) and Man Of His Word (barrier 4) complete the final field.
