The nominations for the 2010 Stan Fox Stakes have been announced with nine runners stepping forward for a chance at the Group 2 $150,000 title.
The race has drawn an interesting field of stayers headlined by the Clarry Conners-trained Decision Time. The three-year-old gelding has fared well in recent outings, with his latest appearance producing a first place finish in the Heritage Stakes (1200m). The listed race had similar set weight conditions to the upcoming Stan Fox Stakes, which will bode well for the son of Foreplay.
Gai Waterhouse-trained Halekulani nominated for the race as well. The three-year-old chestnut gelding had just two starts before taking a convincing first place finish in the Spring Racing at the Gardens Plate (1100m). This was followed up by another impressive performance when he gave Decision Time a run for his money in the Heritage Stakes. He finished in a close second place. The two rivals could see a repeat performance in the upcoming Randwick event.
Masquerader is among the Stan Fox Stakes nominations. Plenty of experts and punters will be looking to the David Payne trained colt as the colt as he is boasting the second best rating of the potential field. However, Masquerader hasn’t been seen since his disappointing seventh place finish in the Golden Rose (1400m) in late August.
The 2010 Stan Fox Stakes are set to jump this Saturday, September 25 at Randwick Racecourse. It will be a day filled with notable races, including the Group 1 George Main Stakes. So be sure to stay tuned for the final field announcement and a full preview of the upcoming event.
